Chanelle photographed by Rebecca Miller

Chanelle photographed by Rebecca Miller
Congratulations to Chanelle who was selected from around 20 models to shoot with photographer Rebecca Miller. Rebecca had plenty of praise for all the models who turned up to the casting. " When I searched for models in Malta and came across the Models.com.mt website, the models looked so professional" Rebecca said. "I wanted to work with one of these models without a doubt". After contacting Carina, Rebecca met the short-listed models and admitted it was really tough to take a decision. "I wish I had time to photograph more!", the Californian but UK based photographer said. " My favorite three were Chanelle, Laura and Jade but I had to regretfully select only one".
Briefing for styling was strong colour but eclectic styles; hair and make-up - simple! Carina worked on wardrobe and styled for the shoot. On the days of the shoot, Justine Bartolo helped in the styling. Caroline took care of the make-up and Pierre Camille did the hair.
The result were great shots of a beautiful Chanelle which were effortless and gorgeous as my good friend Ira put it, portraying Valletta in a way which we all love. Shots are being submitted to Bambi and Noise magazines.
Well done to the whole team!

Tiffany for Diet Kinnie

Tiffany for Diet Kinnie

Tiffany is living the life of a true model; after finishing off her campaign in the Uk for Schwarzkopf she flew into Malta and started her shoot for the  Diet Kinnie campaign for 2011. For the shoot in the Uk, Tiffany had her hair dyed red which went down perfectly, locally as it fitted with the DK colour scheme.
After getting her hair done at Pierre Camille, Graziella DeGiorgio from Revlon applied Tiffany's make-up with Carina taking care of styling.  Photographed by fashion photographer Pierre Camille this campaign for Diet Kinnie promises to be fun and alternative.

Catch up

So much has happened since Tiffany won BNTM; it's been like a roller coaster ride but a marvellous one! In London Tiffany's adventure continues while she goes from one casting to another, doing test shoots to enhance her portfolio and meeting up with Jimmy Choo. Mr. Choo designed and fitted a shoe just for Tiffany and took her out to dinner with his niece and nephew.  This week Tiff had  dinner with judges Grace Woodward and Julien McDonald.
In Malta, Tiffany  did an advert for the autumn/winter collection of Revlon shot by Pierre Camille and assisted by Ben Camille. Look out for Sunday Circle on December 5th to see the beautiful images. Soon after, Tiffany flew back to London to shoot for Kinnie which has just been launched in Soho, London. This will be followed by an intense local campaign for Kinnie, to be shot in Malta in the first week of December.
If you missed Tiffany when she was here right after she became Britain's next Top Model, you will get another chance to meet up with her on December 4th at the Point outside the Franks outlet. Revlon will be hosting an event and people are  invited to come, get make-overs done and meet Tiffany.
We look forward to seeing everyone.

Tiffany is Britain's Next Top Model

Tiffany is Britain's Next Top Model
Apologies in the delay to uploading this  but some ' kind ' person hacked my website.

As you all know, Tiffany is Britain's Next Top Model. When I met Tiffany outside her dentist with her sister Joanna, about 5years ago, it was evident she had potential, they both did. Tiffany decided to pursue her dream and achieved it! Congratulations to princess Tiffany, she made her dream come true!

Tiffany is now in London preparing with her UK agency Models 1 what she will be doing.  " We have several projects lined up for Tiffany" Karen from Models 1 told me, "and we can now officially state that Carina from Models.com.mt will take care of her Maltese related projects and we look forward to collaborating with models.com.mt"

Watch this space to follow up on what Tiffany is doing in the UK and when she will next be in Malta.

Tiffany at New Look

Tiffany at New Look
A large number of young girls and boys, aspiring models, fans and young mums turned up at New Look on Saturday to have their picture taken by photographer Ben Camille, with Tiffany Pisani, finalist at Britain's Next Top Model.  All of the fans benefited from a 35% discount on the super new Autumn/Winter stock available. "I am really pleased" said  Kristina Vassallo on behalf of New Look who together with Carina Camilleri, director of models.com.mt and Tiffany's agent organised the event, "The turn out was great!" Tiffany's elation was clearly visible, "I never expected so many people to turn up and I cannot thank them enough for taking up the time to do so," Tiffany said. "It means so much to me!".
For all of you who would like to continue with their support towards Tiffany, you may ask relatives in the UK to call this number 09011324203 to help her to become Britain's Next Top Model.

Seven days to go

Seven days to go
All three models were treated to a massage and a beautiful boat trip in Malaysia as they took a mini break to compete in what they thought would lead them to who would be Britain's Next Top Model. Each girl was assigned an image from Elle's portfolio and had to re create it plus walk during a fashion show. Tiffany showed us she can be sexy in her shoot and classy and edgy in her walk on the catwalk.
At elimination, instead of someone being sent home and someone being crowned top model, Elle announces she's keeping all three. The girls were told they would go back for a live final on Monday the 4th of October.
For everyone who has relatives in the UK, please make sure you ask them to call or text this number 09011324203 so that we can all help Tiffany to win

Goodbye Charlotte

Goodbye Charlotte
For the first challenge the girls visited  a spa in Malaysia and had to do a TV commercial to promote it by eating an exoctic but awful tasting fruit and soaking their feet in a pond where the fish nibbled at the models' dead skin. UGH!
Julien McDonald arranged for all 4 girls to have go-sees with Malaysian clients. Tiffany worked it and one of the designers said 'she has the making of a super model!'.
The surroundings of an amazing  spa in Malaysia was a perfect backdrop for the shoot where Tiffany made sure she showed her versatility through her poses and expressions. During elimination, Tiffany evidently showed her disbelief when Elle called up her name first.
And as Charlie Speed said 'If the race has just begun, Tiffany has just started sprinting...'

Five become four

Five become four

As beautiful as she is, sadly it was Amelia's turn to leave Malaysia leaving Charlotte, Alicia, Joy and Tiffany competing for the final spot. Performing a themed local dance routine helped the models use their inner grace, a vital component as a fashion model. Tiffany aced the challenge and performed like a true professional. Last but not least, the girls had to work it during a night shoot, advertising a watch. Once again Tiffany came out tops and her final shot was 1of the strongest.

Elimination climax

Elimination climax

When Elle announced that both Joy and Charlotte were going to be sent home, the shock was tangible! Lucky for them it was a joke and instead the models at BNTM are all going to Malaysia.
An original shoot gave Tiffany and all the other girls to spend some time behind the camera rather than in front of it as usual. Tiff did extremely well and directed her model plus did great styling and hair andmake-up direction to the extent of winning the challenge!
The other two shoots, one a glamorous shoot with a team of rugby players as a prop and a simple cover for Company magazine had judges saying that more was expected from Tiffany from the first shoot BUT also saying that her shot for Company was rated her best shot ever. Amazing stuff!

Tiffany and Elle

Tiffany and Elle

The girls had a surprise visit this week from none other than Elle McPherson. How amazing is that? To have one of the world’s most famous super models right there in the same room and sitting on the same couch as you….Tiffany  showed a softer side to her when she became emotional upon meeting up with Elle.

This week’s first shoot was a beauty shot where Revlon made the girls up using an amazing palette of colours. Tiffany’s shot portrayed an almost ethereal being but Elle commented that she needed a haircut after she saw the portrait.

A trip to Pinewood studios soon revealed that the girls were up for a challenge which was not for the faint-hearted. A leap from a 20 metre scaffolding onto a mat for Galaxy chocolate while keeping poised. Not easy! Tiffany looked beautiful in the black wig and managed to pull off a good shot but not good enough to keep her from being in the final two during elimination together with Olivia. Lucky for us and for Tiffany, Olivia was sent home.

SCARAB BY IMPERU GIRGORCISKU

ApartheidGenesisSynthesisAwakeningEMERGING MALTESE FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER

TAKES SWIPE AT INDUSTRY IN

DEBUT SOLO EXHIBITION

DISILLUSIONED TEENS, DOPED NYMPHETS, DESPAIRING MURDERERS,

SLAUGHTERED PIGS – THE SURREAL WORLD OF SCARAB BY

IMPERU GIRGORCISKU

As the Maltese fashion industry begins to garner momentum, so must the critical debate of fashion

photography itself. This means creating a dialogue with a type of image we are so accustomed to seeing, and

exploring more candid realities about how we consume fashion images. The work of Maltese artist

Girgorcisku (born Gregory Hili) is still relatively unknown. But Scarab – the debut solo exhibition of Imperu

Girgorcisku – will mark the advent of a local artist who has taken on board the challenge of initiating this

dialogue with fashion photography.

“Imperu Girgorcisku is my own world which acted as my escape from troubled periods of my life. These

periods controlled me in the way I feel the fashion image controls those who gaze at it”. The Central Saint

Martins graduate also feels strongly about the pressure fashion images put on today’s young boys and girls,

conforming to what he feels are out-dated conceptions of the ‘right’ way to be: “In the past, these structures

harnessed a spirit of acceptance; everyone knew their place within a grand order of society. But in a new

world where those structures have disintegrated, where we can be whoever we want to be, we have become

more competitive. Our world has changed, but our mindset hasn’t. We end up subjecting ourselves to our

own self-made structures – influenced by the conceptions of the past – in the spirit of inner anxiety and

hatred. We have become like scarabs, feeding and reproducing in our own dung spheres of ‘perfection’.”

Just as his ‘empire’ empowered the artist over his turbulent past, Girgorcisku wants to provide that same

conviction for teens and young adults struggling to cope with social pressures fashion is at least partly

responsible for enforcing. “As an image-maker, I am in a position of control over the imaginary worlds of

consumers. Therefore, I have a moral obligation to question the truth (or allusion) of that control. This is in

the spirit of a new world where no one is untouchable, where everyone – regardless of their objective status –

comes closer together, united as we reach yet another milestone in the evolution of humanity.”

Scarab will launch a private view on Thursday 16 September 2010, 8pm, at 43 Lascaris Wharf, Valletta. The

exhibition will then be open to the public from 5pm-8pm at the same address every day before closing on

Tuesday 21 September 2010.

Week 8

Week 8

This week the girls had a challenge at the flagship store of the fashionable  New Look in London.  They all had 5 minutes to run around and find a capsule outfit. Once the girls selected their clothes they were told that they would have to pick one from the group each to model their chosen outfit and present it on camera for the new look website.  Charlotte won as she had good presenting skills.
After the challenge the girls where whisked off to Norway in the freezing cold. They rode on a helicopter to a  glacier on the top of a mountain, a first for most of the girls. There they had to do a shoot for a brand of  water wearing outfits made out of the plastic bottles of water and wearing nothing else underneath in a  temperature of -5.
Everyone struggled as it was freezing cold.  The last 2 girls to shoot where caught in a blizzard of temperatures of - 20.
Tiffany  found it difficult to breathe as the ice cold air froze onto her skin.  The photographer wasn`t amused or  impressed with her as he thought she was trying  to hurry the shoot up. In actual fact  she was focusing on getting the shot before she collapsed!
The very next morning the girls flew back to England without getting any sleep and went  straight into another challenge. They had to walk and pose in front of the famous hat designer Stephen Jones who has even designed  for the princess Diana herself. Tiffany impressed Stephen Jones along with Grace Woodward  and won  the challange.  She was given a designer hat  and made it on to the next round being called up 4th.
On with the show......

Week 7 at BNTM

Week 7 at BNTM
From Spain to Liverpool on the set of Holly Oaks, Tiffany's performance continued to improve. Her acting debut with Charlotte impressed the panel. The fashion photographer who shot this week's alternative and once again challenging shoot, together with Charlie Speed mentioned how easy it was to work with Tiff who would change her pose and expression each time she heard the click of the camera. This performance produced a strong photo which helped Tiffany to  be called up third in elimination.

Tiffany's week 5 and 6

Tiffany's week 5 and 6

The chocolate shoot

Tiffany has been praised consistently by the panel of judges and photographers so far and was also told by presenter and world-class supermodel Elle Macpherson she looks beautiful in her latest photograph but is “tired of seeing the same expression."

Tiffany was always reluctant to do nude shots, claiming “I wouldn’t usually do any sort of nudity at all.” So when the time came to pose nude for BNTM, save for a barely-there garment covering the lower part of the body, it was a challenge indeed!  Ladles of chocolate were poured over her from head to toe and while Tiffany looked apprehensive of posing nude, she still did it, knowing that this is part of the modeling industry. Plus there was no way Tiffany was going to allow anything to get in her way and stop her from winning.

The judges decided that the photograph was not up to her standards and Tiffany was called up for elimination being 1 of the final 2. When her name was called up to stay in the house over Delita’s, her elation was tangible. “I never want to be the bottom two again”, Tiffany proclaims.

Tiffany steps it up

Week 6 started with the girls given a challenge to go on TV live and sell jewellrey. Tiffany did  well and showed flair and enthusiasm. The second challenge presented to the girls was to buy as many things as they possibly could from an airport with 500stg, easy but not when you have a time limit.  What the girls didn’t know was that the things purchased were going to be the only things they would take with them on their first photo shoot abroad where they had to model swimwear against an amazing panoramic backdrop. Tiffany totally stepped up and produced an alternative shot. The judges were all pleased to see her taking up on the advice they had given to produce a picture with a different expression. You go girl!

These photographs are set to appear in125 magazine, a photographic showcase and print sales gallery published twice yearly.
"Tiffany is a photographer's dream come true" says Simone,"she moves and changes expression with every click of the camera. I had such a great team to work with and I am so pleased with how the images turned out."

It's all go, go, go and we love it.

Tiffany at Britain's Next Top Model

Tiffany at Britain's Next Top Model
I have known Tiffany since she was 13 when I spotted her crying outside her dentist in Sliema. I stopped her and asked her if she wanted to model. In 2 weeks she was photographed by Pierre Camille for a fashion spread of Malta's then, leading fashion magazine and the rest is history.  For as long as I can remember, Tiffany would tell me she wanted to model abroad and be a professional model. Tiffany went to Germany and Milan in 2009 and she quickly learnt how tough the fashion industry was but was not put off by it.  Instead she pushed herself harder with the support from her family and friends, in order for her to succeed and take modelling as a professional occupation. She is the pure example of where there is a will there is a way. She has now made it to Britain's Next Top Model, the first Maltese girl ever;  with this ladies and gentlemen you are witnessing fashion history.

This is my account of Tiffany at BNTM

Programme 1

When Tiffany first arrived at boot camp she was shocked to see how many girls there were and immediately knew it was not going to be easy. All the contestants were amazed to meet super model  Elle McPherson for the first time  together with the other judges Julian Macdonald, a well-known fashion designer , Grace Woodward, a stylist and fashion editor and super model Charley Speed. The 25 contestants  had their first photo shoot and catwalk along with their one-on-one interviews with all the judges . After meeting with the judges,  the girls were soon short listed to 20.  The 20 contestants had their second photo shoot where they were split into groups of 5 all portraying different school themes . Tiffany impressed the photographer as he said she was great to work with and played her part the best.  She was called up first into the final group of fourteen who where all going to the infamous house.

Programme  2

The fourteen girls had their first challenge where they had` to select an object and try their best editorial poses in front of Charley Speed. Tiffany was among the winning team and therefore had the chance to go into the house first, along with the other six winning contestants . In their next challenge, Julian Macdonald greeted the girls along with a runway coach , giving them gold body suits to wear and show off their walk.  The girls also had a Fred and Ginger underwear photo shoot where Tiffany impressed the clients together with Julian Macdonald who later at the judging  panel called Tiffany, a Maltese sex bomb.

Programme 3

This week's bullying awareness photoshoot challenge was a tough one. When models need to portray alternative it's never easy. One needs to get into the role entirely and that is why modelling and acting go hand in hand. Once again Tiffany came up tops in her shoot. She significantly impressed during her castings and both her pose and her walk were top model quality.

Pippa Toledo's bag and jewellery launch

Pippa Toledo's bag and jewellery launch

Going out after a day's work is never an easy task.
Models.com.mt wanted to recruit new female models so we held a shoot and worked on the new models' portfolio; Five girls, Bettina, Nina, Emzi, Justine and Nikki were styled and then shot by Pierre Camille. We created three different looks for them and finished off the day with Nikki wearing my new-arrival; a beautiful dress by J. Crew.( Thanks due here to Joseph Fountain and Annelie from Manolo Blahnik in New York). At the end I was shattered! The last thing I felt like was to get dressed and ready, to go out to the launch of Pippa Toledo's handmade bags.
I was so close to collapsing on the sofa but I'm glad I didn't. I picked up my very dear sister-in-law and we went to Pippa's studio. Walking into her minimally designed place, I was instantly greeted by loud voices of a100+women; it seemed like everyone was talking at the same time and at the top of their voices! I immediately went to check out the wares. Bags and jewellrey were displayed extremely well. The bags are very well made out of high quality fabric and adorned with beads, bows, tulle etc; there was a very pretty black one on the bottom shelf with grey tulle+a silver chain! I fell in love with some gold and silver sculptured bangles which I have set my eyes on!
A very noisy but very pleasant evening with women who were my age for a change. We were well fed(Zest-simply delicious)and wine kept flowing readily. The evening finished off with a super Irish coffee and a limoncello, by then my Giuseppe Zanotti shoes had made my feet so numb, I was ready to leave. Well done to Pippa and to all her team!

Modelling and Fashion

Modelling and Fashion
Having started her career in fashion as a stylist on Malta’s leading fashion magazine, Modern Elegance and organising fashion shows for some of the leading names  in the Maltese fashion scene, Carina Camilleri set up Models.com.mt as a way to group together all the models she had worked with over the years. Within a short period of time, and some intense scouting Models.com.mt was soon established as Malta’s leading model agency, supplying the industry with the best local models.

Models.com.mt is now affiliated with several local and international models 'searches,  including International Ford Model of the Year, Pantene Hair of the Year, Shout and Revlon, as well as recruiting lookalikes for events such as the premier for the movie Sex and the City. Whenever advertising agencies, film production companies and magazines need local models, it is at Models.com.mt that they are likely to start – and end – their search with.

Some of the  fashion related companies Models.com.mt have supplied models to include: Columbia, Charles & Ron, Square Deal, Miss Sixty, Replay, Max Mara, Muse, Benetton and  MTV.  In the first six months of this year, Models.com.mt has supplied models to local publications such as Style on Sunday, FM, Milkshake, Shell  as well advertising campaigns for Kinne, Fino, Gaba, Cisk, Magic Radio and Mediterranean Bank among others. The agency have also supplied models to host events such as the openings of Debenhams, Chateau d’Aix, Banif Bank and the Sex and the City premier, and appeared in fashion shows for Syl, Debenhams, Tally Weji and Tommy Hilfiger. Models from Models.com.mt have also featured as extras in movies shot in Malta, most recently The Devil’s Double, as well as some Italian short films.

Models.com.mt is already in the process of being involved in several projects including foreign advertising campaigns shot in Malta, some short movies as well as the usual editorial shoots and fashion shows.

If you are interested in being part of models.com.mt, send in some images of yourself and our team will get back to you after having evaluated what sort of work you would be suitable for.
